LGT transactions reach 2 billion dollars

LGT Capital Partners completed over $2 billion in secondary transactions during the first half of 2026, despite ongoing macroeconomic and geopolitical uncertainty.

Private Equity Transactions

The firm completed more than 20 transactions globally, with private equity accounting for the bulk of deployment, as general partner-led transactions continued to reshape the secondary market.

More than $1.5 billion was invested across over 15 private equity secondary transactions, acquiring stakes in more than 1,400 underlying companies.

$660 million was deployed across eight venture and growth capital transactions, while over $475 million was invested across five Asia-Pacific deals.

Market Trends

GP-led transactions represented around three-quarters of the firm’s private equity transaction value, with limited partner-led portfolio sales making up the balance.

Europe attracted the largest share of capital, followed by Asia-Pacific and North America, as venture and growth secondaries emerged as one of the fastest-growing segments of the market.

Although the segment still represents around five per cent of total secondary transaction volume, the opportunity set continued to expand, driven by growing unrealised value and longer distribution timelines.

LGT Capital Partners also pointed to increasing momentum across Asia, where secondary transaction volumes rose 53 per cent year-on-year in 2025 as liquidity needs increased and the regional private equity market matured.

Private Credit and Infrastructure

Private credit delivered record market activity during the first half of 2026, despite heightened volatility, with the broader market recording $20 billion in transaction volume.

LGT Capital Partners completed over $350 million in private credit secondary transactions, focusing primarily on GP-led opportunities and bilateral deals, with North America accounting for most deployments.

Infrastructure secondaries also remained active.

Secondary transactions are becoming a vital part of the private equity, private credit, and infrastructure markets, as firms like LGT Capital Partners seek to provide liquidity solutions and manage mature assets.

LGT Capital Partners’ ability to complete a significant number of transactions demonstrates its expertise and the growing demand for secondary transactions, which is likely to continue as the markets evolve.

LGT Capital Partners’ transactions included Locomotive, a multi-asset GP-led continuation vehicle, Axis, an Asian LP portfolio, and Alchemy, a GP-led growth portfolio of AI-native companies.

LGT Capital Partners is a key player in the market, and its transactions, such as the private equity deals, show its commitment to providing liquidity solutions.
