Equipifi adds risk-based pricing to BNPL tool - risk based pricing
Equipifi, based in Scottsdale, Arizona, supplies BNPL services to banks and credit unions.

The U.S. BNPL market is projected to reach $423.08 billion in volume by 2031, according to a ResearchandMarkets.com forecast, prompting providers to refine their offerings.

Based in Scottsdale, Arizona, equipifi supplies BNPL services to banks and credit unions, enabling those institutions to extend installment plans directly to their members. The company’s platform integrates with existing core-banking systems, allowing financial institutions to present financing options at the point of sale without sending customers to a third-party portal.

Its latest upgrade, called Risk-Based Pricing for BNPL, adds flexibility by letting lenders shape offers around each account holder’s real-time cash flow and financial standing, while keeping terms competitive with other installment providers.

The tool can, for instance, generate a tailored proposal for a customer with a large cash balance who needs to fund a major purchase, yet present different rates to a similarly funded account that shows a slightly higher risk profile.

“Banks and credit unions already have visibility into the tenure, balances, and cash flow that set account holders apart,” said Bryce Deeney, founder and chief executive of equipifi. “That’s a key strength over third-party BNPL providers, who have to piece together what an institution sees every day.”

Having introduced real-time offer customization in 2023, the firm now extends that capability with risk-based pricing, signaling a continued push to let banks and credit unions leverage in-house data for their BNPL programs.
