Nayax and Allied expand fuel payment tech

Nayax has grown its footprint in the U.S. fuel sector after signing a distribution agreement with Allied Electronics. This deal extends the availability of its VPOS Media 5 outdoor payment terminal to more gas stations across the country. The collaboration arrives as card payments now make up 81% of all fuel transactions—up from 64% ten years earlier, based on industry figures.
Convenience stores, which play a major role in fuel sales, generated $450 billion in revenue last year. Nayax’s system is built to improve payment efficiency at these sites, where forecourt operations grow more demanding daily. The company has already bolstered its market position through strategic acquisitions, including On Track Innovations in 2022 and Roseman Engineering in 2024. Both moves brought specialized expertise tailored to the fuel industry.
The rise in card payments marks a broader shift in consumer habits, with cash transactions at pumps declining steadily. Nayax’s VPOS Media 5 targets this change by delivering a solution specifically for fuel retailers, many of whom depend on convenience stores for extra income beyond gas sales. Allied’s existing forecourt controller already operates at tens of thousands of U.S. locations, creating a vast network for the new technology.
This initiative follows Toast’s recent launch of its own fuel payment system. While Nayax specializes in payment processing, another firm, Partner Tech, has gained certification for its AI-driven self-checkout system to work with Verifone Commander. The system can now be deployed at over 55,000 convenience and fuel locations, merging automation with established point-of-sale hardware.
Partner Tech’s technology is designed to update in-store workflows without sacrificing profitability, a key concern for retailers dealing with higher labor and operating expenses. The Verifone partnership expands its compatibility beyond standalone convenience stores, potentially reaching gas stations using the same controller setup. Both advancements reflect the industry’s broader effort to digitize transactions, benefiting both customers and operators.
Nayax’s distribution deal with Allied Electronics strengthens its position in the evolving fuel payment market. The company’s focus on forecourt efficiency aligns with the growing demand for seamless digital transactions at gas stations. Meanwhile, Partner Tech’s certification with Verifone extends the reach of its AI-powered checkout system, further accelerating industry-wide modernization.
