DASH appoints new chief executive

Fintech firm DASH Technology Group appointed Glenn Poynton as its new chief executive, concluding a two-month search for a permanent leader after Andrew Whelan left the role.
Whelan departed in June following nearly six years at the helm. Executive director Darren Pettiona served as interim leader while the board conducted the search.
Poynton brings three decades of financial services expertise
Most recently, Poynton served as executive director of corporate development at Betashares for nearly five years. Prior to that, he spent three years with Class Limited, an SMSF administration and legal document solutions provider, where he held roles including chief strategy officer.

His earlier career included nearly 20 years at Macquarie, with half spent at Macquarie Group in senior roles across adviser services, product strategy, and its wrap platform, and the other half at Macquarie Bank covering technology and adviser services.
DASH chairman Geoff Lloyd stated the appointment aligns with the company’s focus on strengthening delivery for advisers and clients. “Glenn has worked in both mature and start-up businesses in Australia and overseas, and has the broad skills and experience needed to continue executing our strategy,” he said.
Poynton said: “I’ve spent my career working where wealth platforms, product, technology, distribution and regulated execution intersect and I’m excited to join DASH and work with Geoff and the board. The wealth management industry is evolving quickly and DASH’s focus now is on delivering consistently for the advisers and clients who already rely on us.”
Recent growth through acquisitions and partnerships
The leadership change comes as DASH advances its growth strategy, including its acquisition of Integration Portfolio Solutions (IPS) and a planned partnership with global alternatives fintech S64 in 2025.
Earlier this year, DASH signed a head of agreement with the Association of Independently Owned Financial Professionals (AIOFP) to launch Foundation Adviser Wrap, a white-label platform. The AIOFP cited member concerns about the security of their businesses and client relationships amid moves by major platforms to restrict access for certain dealer groups.
Poynton’s immediate focus will be on completing the IPS acquisition and advancing the S64 partnership.
